These were passed by Kings and Queens who wanted to make people follow the same religion that they did. The Bible was only written in Latin. Opinion
Martin Luther believed that the Catholic Church was not teaching people the right things. People should not be able to read the Bible for themselves. It should only be available in Latin by Priests. The leaders of the church were greedy and used fear to make the people conform (obey). In the Tudor times, people believed Priest had the power to take sins away. The Pope was a corrupt and greedy man. People would pay a Priest for and indulgence so that’s they would spend less time in Purgatory. All church services were held in Latin.
