Alaska and Climate Change.

ALASKA

Alaska is at the forefront of climate change. Because of its northern latitude and seasonal changes in sea ice, the state is warming at two to three times the rate of the global average. Rising temperatures can be tied to most of the effects of climate change in Alaska. Mining and burning fossil fuels threaten Alaska’s lands, waters, wildlife, and communities, and also contribute to the warming of the earth’s climate through the release of greenhouse gas emissions.

Our climate modeling suggests a dramatically changing future for Alaska crops by 2100, with frost-free seasons extending not just by days, but by weeks or months; cumulative summer heat doubling or more; and the coldest winter days becoming 10 or 15 degrees less extreme. Alaska blames herself (as does her father) for her mother’s death. This is the main incident that causes Alaska’s subsequent suffering and pain. Her pain further snowballs when she forgets the anniversary of her mother’s death and she feels she has failed her mother yet another time.

Alaska’s population rose in 2022 according to new estimates released by the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, marking a second consecutive year of increases after four years of declines. Alaska has had its 17th warmest calendar year in 2022.

All about what we learned in geography!

EARTHQUAKES!

I  learned in geography that earthquakes are measured by Richter scale. Also I learned a lot more about earthquakes and volcanos but I’ll start with earthquakes first. When an earthquake is happening you get down and tuck your self in or you could go under something strong. An earthquake will only go on for a few minutes but if it’s really bad maybe days! Earthquakes are caused by the 2 templates under ground they could bump into each other or go under or slide up. I don’t know if heard on the news but an earthquake in turkey has happened recently. It was a really bad earthquake!

VOLCANOS!

The melted rock, or magma, is lighter than the surrounding rock and rises up. This magma collects in magma chambers, but it is still miles below the surface. When enough magma builds up in the magma chamber, it forces its way up to the surface and erupts, often causing volcanic eruptions. One of the most effective ways of reducing the risk of a volcanic eruption is having an evacuation plan. This involves ensuring evacuation strategies are in place along with emergency shelter and food supplies being planned for.

Logan’s holiday!

in the middle of the summer holidays, I want to Cornwall all the way at the bottom of England. It was a 6 hour drive in a car it was super long! When we got there it was a struggle because the power we couldn’t turn on at the little house. The first day we got there after we figured it out we like chilled for the first day. We were watching the news and the first day we got there the war was happening with Russia and Ukraine.

The next day after a long nice sleep the beds were so comfy, I woke up and had breakfast at the wooden table. Later on we went to the cinema and my favourite part it was 3D! It was cool and even the seats moved from the movie and everything! We got to keep the 3D glasses. Later on that day before I went to sleep me and my aunti were scaring each other in the dark, it was so fun. Brushed my teeth and went to bed.

At night I was thinking the rest of the 6 days we was going to do. The next morning I had a shower and didn’t have breakfast. (I can’t remember all of it) my favourite parts is on Wednesday is when I went to a huge swimming pool!
After a couple hours I was so sad we had to go but I got ice cream after so that was yummy!

The next day we went to a little beach that was super fun aLso I loved playing in the water but my favourite was a huge beach the very next day!
The next morning it was super busy we had to pack up to go it took about an hour and a half to pack up. On the way back home I was super exited to see my mum! We got food service on the drive which was McDonald’s! After a long drive I got home and was super happy.
