How I used maths in the holiday!

Maths in real life

I woke up at 1:30am, I left my house at 2:00am to get to the long stay car park near the airport. It took 10 minutes to get to the airport. The security took half an hour and grabbing something to eat took 30 minutes. The plane ride took 4 hours.

How long was the whole adventure today?

1:30 until 2:00 = 30 minutes + 10 minutes to the airport = 40 minutes, add on 1hour for security and food = one hour and forty minutes then four hours in the plane means 5 hours forty minutes do it would be 7:10 am!

Maths in real life

During the May holiday ,I went on holiday 3 hours from here but  we had a caravan on the back of our car so it took longer .I had to use my maths skills to see how much longer it would take.  An extra 30minutes so we left at 3:30pm-6:30pm we arrived.

Another time I had to use my maths skills ,was when I had £10 . I bought a figet cube for £3 and a charm for £5 so that left me with £2 . That I spent it on 2 bows that were £1 each and that was all of my money GONE!

By using my Maths skills I could wrk out how much money I had left.

How I used maths in real life for cooking

Last week was half term and I made Oreo cakes .

The maths skills I used were my measuring skills to help me make the cake properly. I had to read the scale and measure out the butter, sugar and flour.

I cooked the cupcakes in the oven for 15 minutes and left them in for an extra 5 minutes to cook more better.  The cupcakes were so much tastier after the extra 5 minutes. I worked out if I put them in the oven at 3:00pm. I needed to take them out at 3:20pm, yum.

How I used maths in the holidays

In the holidays me and my mum were working out the costs for my sister’s surprise birthday party on her birthday. We had to work  out the times and how much the hall will cost and the  Entertainment. Then we had to work out  how much the invitations will cost. I hope we can buy everything we need and stay within our budget!

How to use maths in real life 😀

I use maths skills a lot at home.

When I played outside I needed to find out what time it was so I wasn’t late for dinner. This meant I had to be able to tell the time.

Me and my friend went to Lidl and my friend had to find out how much money we could spend and how much money we had. When I went to get my breakfast I needed to know what I was getting so I needed to find out how much money I have. This meant I had to be able to add and subtract to use money in real life.

When me and my mom went to the shop we saw a pizza that was half price so we had to pay half as much as we used to. This is the same as 50% off! a good price. When me, my friend and my family bought a pizza and we had to decide who eats what so we all ate one quarter of the pizza each. This meant I used my fraction skills in real life.

When I went to a magic show I needed to know how much 5 seats would cost. When me and my grandma went to the circus and we wanted to buy 2 boxes of cotton candy, we needed to find out how much it costs to check we had enough money.
