Alexander Graham Bell

Who?

Alexander was born in 1847 Edinburgh. Alexander Graham Bell was very interested in sounds.

Why?

I don’t know why Alexander was so interested in sounds. Maybe to help deaf people to speak and help his mum hear.

How?

His dad set him a challenge to make a talking machine and it almost worked with Watson.  They rented two rooms next to each other.

What?

The mouth piece used acid to turn to electricity. Sound travels through  the wire then sound turned  back into talking.

River big write

How a river is formed?

A river begins as a source at the top of a mountain. This source could be: a spring, glacier, rain or even collected snow. This source travels down the hill/mountain(because of gravity ), after that the source enters  a waterfall. The waterfall then pushes the source to the main channel. There can be parts of the main channel where a tributary ( smaller river) can  join the main channel. This place is called a confluence. Where a river enters the mouth (ocean) is called an estuary. There can sometimes be delta which block part of the water from flowing in. On both sides of the river is a floodplain. When the river floods the floodplain floods. The river can cut through it forms a meander and leaves an oxbow lake.

Oceans and seas

Amazingly oceans cover 70% of the worlds surface! There are 5 oceans: the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, and Arctic Ocean. Out of these oceans the Pacific is the biggest, it covers 30% of the worlds surface. Did you know that the sea is were land meets the ocean? It can also be a smaller part of the ocean like the Mediterranean Sea.

water facts

River Nile is the longest river, it travels through 7 countries ! Did you know that the Dead Sea is actually a lake? It got its name from the high saltwater, also the Dead Sea got its name from that no fish in the WORLD can live in it because it’s water can kill them.

BIG write

OVERVIEW

My favourite topic of Year 4 for now is the Vikings because of 2 reasons 1.We created a viking village 2.They had old and amazing weapons. Facts are that they had no horns! And they ruled before the Romans. I mostly liked the big write about Odin the king of the Gods. I settled PERFECTLY in year 4.

My AM target was to try and put more effort into my work but I probably didn’t achieve it because I rush my work.

Evaluating me I would say I am the best of myself with Mrs Edwards,Mrs Powel and Mrs Arnott. My good peers are Nadia,Kevin not to forget Oscar.

TARGET SETTING

I would say my new target could be ‘be a better friend’.

Overview

During the autumn term we studied two different topics: the vikings and the theatre. My favourite was the vikings because we did a performance on it and I liked the work that we did on the Vikings. But the theatre was not that good. I was most proud of my first big write in year four because I tried my best and I didn’t give up.

My aim was to put one hundred percent in my work every day by working hard and never stopping. I settled nicely in to year four  and it was nice to be in year four and I play with my friends. I have many friends to play with and I have mates like team mates in football and basketball.

My target is to get better at handwriting and football because it is very tricky to do handwriting but not as easy as football to me.

My Autumn term

In year four we have done two topics the vikings and the theatre my favourite were the vikings because they were savage beasts who killed for fun. I found out that they didn’t have horns on their helmets and that they used swords.I was most proud of our Viking sagas because they were mentioned in are assembly.

My aim was to improve my handwriting in order to achieve my goal I had to stay in on Wednesday assembly with Miss Ross and practice my handwriting.I have settled very nicely I think this because I have many friends.I have many friends and I count the teachers as my friends as well.

I want to get better at pe.
