The HomeGuard from World War 2

This blogpost will tell you all about the HomeGuard from World War 2 in 1939.

The people in the HomeGuard were volunteers who lived in the area and they tried to protect their hometown from invasion by the Germans but obviously, that never happened…ever! Homeguard volunteers often were really clumsy and got hurt a lot, especially the older ones who are around 80 years old. The HomeGuard was organised by Winston Churchill in 1939 and 1940. The HomeGuard volunteers didn’t have proper weapons, they had ancient weapons. 250,000 Pikes were issued and used by the HomeGuard as weapons against what would be the ‘invaders’, the Germans.

Christmas Poem

Acrostic poem of christmas.

Children excited for Christmas day

Having fun throughout the house

Reindeers help ride the slay

I love presents especially toys

So many presents waiting by the tree.

Terrible people staring at me

Many toys just for me

A lot of fun on Christmas Day.

Santa’s slay is such a ride

The meaning of christmas

The true meaning of christmas is the celebration of the  birth of jesus who lived in Israel 2000 years ago and who died on a cross for our sins.

Letter of Complaint – Goodnight Mr Tom

Dear H Trumble

I am writing to you to complain about a disgraceful evacuated child that was sent to me I am a really old man I can not cope with him anymore were he has multiple issues.

My first issue has he threatened the dog with a stick. I am dedicated to think he might do it again but it is a possibly. My dog, who is called Sammy has never ever had a problem with any other children or adults and so I know it is the boy’s fault.

I am disgraced to find out that this nine-year-old boy wets the bed every night. This is a problem because I am in my late 60’s and I should have to scrub the bed with my bare hands also I will have to buy a new mattress and that will cost a lot of my money and this leads to my next issue.

Lastly, I am a retired man I have not got a lot of food, which I have to share with a dog and a boy that does not eat! Also, we get a certain amount of food because of rationing . In fact, I have no job so it is hard foer me to get enough food for me and the dog not including a boy that wastes my food. In addition, I will have to buy him clothes and medication were the boy is very sick and he has no clothes in my house. As I am sure you are aware time is tough and the boy is making it even tougher.

I would like you to get rid of Willie also by me a new mattress as he has weed in the one we have got. If you do not do this I will take it to your boss, If yo do not give will a nice place to get educated, then I will take it past your boss

yours faithfully

Mr T Oaklay

Complaint letter

Dear mr H Trumble

I am writing to you to complain about the evacuee you bought to my house, for me to look after and I have had enough of him, because he never does what he is told to do.

William wets the bed every single night because he doesn’t go to the toilet and I have to change the dirty, smelly bed sheet, then bring the mattress into the garden and then carry it back upstairs into his room and put it on his bed and this is a big issue for me because I am to old.

I have to give this london boy who has lack of education because his mean parents and dumb teachers have not teached him anythink instead they hit him and rap nuckels but this is not my problem.

I have to look after him well, get him medication and waste all of my money and time on him because his mum did not care about him and slapes him but this is their problem not mine.

If you do not get rid of him.

If you do not take him back to london.

then I will put him back on the train or get rid of him my self.

Your Faithally Mr T oakley.

Dear Mr H Trumble

I am writing to you about the evacuee I have been forced to have and how I can not have him for several reasons.

Firstly, he urinates the bed every night. I have to pick the mattress, then I have to tack it down the narrow steps, then I have to take it throw the narrow hallway then to the back of the garden and when it gets tonight I have to repeat the proses again.

Secondly, he can not read or right so he is in the babby class so I have had to give up all my time to teach him. I have had to give up a job all ready to teach him.

Finally, Willy has many health problems, firstly he has been sick many times so I to have had to spend a ration on medicine secondly he has fanted for no reason already and I have took him to the doctors to many times.

So I can not look after the boy. IF  you do not take the boy a way, if you do not sort it out then I will  take this to  your sopireors.

Your faithfully Mr T Okley.

Class 17 – Speeches

In Class 17 we have been writing a Battlecry for the people of 1940’s Britain, in the hope to motivate the people of Britain into rallying together to defend the nation against the Nazi German threat. We used famous speeches, like William Wallace’s,  to help inspire us and we examined their use of language to persuade their audience. We then recorded our writing on iMovie’s and used a greenscreen app to make it look as though we were really there.

We hope you enjoy the videos we made! Please comment any feedback you have!

Letter from Mr Tom

Dear Mr H Trumble,

I am writing regarding to complain about the sudden evacuation conundrum that I now have to take part in. This would normally not be such a dramatic issue, but due to this child’s health situations, I am not able to take part in looking after an evacuee.

The first problem was the uranating in his bed. Due to the atrocious fact that I am not in a good condition, and I should not supposed to be carrying out an enormous mattress with uran on it. This is not the appreciated standard that I was expecting and I am not happy with the dreadful situation.

The other fact is the lack of his education. This disoriantated child is not educated to his age group standard, and due to the fact that I am too old, I will not be able to teach this poor child. I will have to waste my personal time to teach this diabolical and suffering child.Again this is appalling for me to be doing this since this child has been to school.

My money and ration has to be wasted on this unprepared evacuee. I have calculated that the cost of his clothes and food will minus the amounts of my monthly allowance. This situation might even lead me to a dreadful suffer.

If you do not get rid of this child, if you decide to take my personal time, if you dont do what I want;then I will tell your maneger to sack you and I will ask for more.

Yors faithfully,

Mr T Oakley

Monday 13th March 1942

Dear Mr. H. Trumble

I am writing to you today because of my concern of this evacuee, named William Beech. William was given to me yesterday morning at 10:20am from one of your brilliant billeting officers in Little Wierwold. With regret, I cannot fulfill his need at this point in time.

My first major problem with this problematic child is his bed-wetting; this morning, I went to William’s room to find his bed soaked in urine amd so I had to buy him new children’s pyjamas and brand new bed sheets. I then also had to carry his really heavy matress down and onto the shed’s roof, which hurt my back and arms alot.

The second significant problem is William getting told horrible myths by his mother back in London about dogs being poisonous and dangerous and so he threatened to kill my dog. If I was not there, if I had left William, if my dog had gotten closer, then my dog would be gone, forever…

One of my last dilemmas has been this child’s medication. I have spent a lot of money on this child’s medicines and creams. I found his legs and back covered in scars and bruises from possibly being beaten really hard and when he eats (which is ever much), it just comes back up about half an hour to an hour later. He is a very ill child.

For these reasons, this poor child should be sent to a greater family that is more wealthy than me alone. But if you send me a little more money each week, if you give this child some free medication, if you could help this child, then I may consider keeping this child with me instead of sending him off to some other place.

Yours sincerely,

            Mr Tom Oakley

Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying can be tough to handle but this will help you notice it if you come across any issues.

  • Cyberbullying often occurs in a group of people, maybe two or three people.
  • Cyberbullying takes place online on Social Medias or online gaming service (e.g. Xbox live, PSN and Steam) through messages or even Parties (Xbox Live) or group chats.
  • It is bullying online and it can affect people’s lives forever

If you ever experience this, here are some top tips.

  1. Talk to someone you can trust with everything.
  2. Block the people that are bullying you which you can often do and report them to Xbox, PSN or anything else.
  3. If you experience CyberBullying you can confidently call ChildLine at 0800 1111.
  4. Do not delete the messages that have been sent to you as they hold evidence that the another person has done wrong to you.
