How to survive in Sats papers

Introduction

Every year in May year 6 students do Sats  to test their knowledge and to see what they have learned in the past months. Some times year 6s struggle with Sats because either they are scared or confused or stressed ** so I’m going to help you on how to survive Sats papers and other Sats.

Prepare

Manage your distractions. Managing your distraction, will keep you focused while working. Home time: Giving up your time at home should give you some time to work on revision practice. Practicing your dividing and times table will help you in your Sats. If you do all of this it will pay off at the end and will help.

How to deal with the stress

Stress. Stress is the most common thing that year 6 students deal with in the Sats work. How to deal with this issue is taking a deep breath or  taking a minute off to relax your mind. Having a lazy body is because you didn’t have a good sleep, so what I would recommend is having exercise or a sleeping schedule like setting up a time when and what to do. I would also recommend shaking your body for a little bit of time then it makes your body less tired.

Survival

Get a good sleep because if you don’t you will have a lazy body and you will be sleepy and tired so I would recommend sleeping by 8 pm and you will have a full 11 hour sleep. Breakfast. Missing out on breakfast or refusing to have breakfast is a bad idea because breakfast is what keeps your energy up. So eat breakfast. But a healthy choice

one like bananas or apples to keep all your energy full and up and it will last to night time.

These are my survival tips thank you for listening and giving your time up for me to help.

You want to get good grades, so you don’t get in a bad class. That is why you should study at home and school.

Coping

If you’re stressed while your working, just feel like you’re in your safe space so you don’t feel stressed (being stressed can also make you feel not confident on the other questions so you don’t do them).

After a question, it will be a good thing to take some deep breaths for a moment so you don’t feel overwhelmed.

Surviving

If you want to survive, you’re going to need lots of sleep (sleep let’s your brain remember all the information for tomorrow).

You need to eat healthy (so you have all the energy to use for the next day to do the SATs).

Try your best, and if you don’t, you might not get the best so your not doing what you’re good at.

  Punctuation

Use punctuation such as comas, full stop and brackets so the reader knows when there’s information or if it’s a sentence or if there’s another part to it so you should use them in English.

Getting a good night sleep

You need to get lots of sleep before your SATs. You will need to get at least 10 or 9 hours of sleep, if you get like 5 hours of sleep you will be moody and tired and you could fall asleep in class. And you will not know what you are doing and you might not finish.

Eating healthy

You will need a good meal in the  morning because if you have a little meal you will be hungry in class. You will need at least cereal or a banana they are good not chocolate or really sugary stuff so it is important to have a good meal.

Exercise

If you want to go get some exercise you can go out with your friends or you could go to the park or play football or do a sport that you like or do something that you like or run and do some stretching. Why does exercise help?

Introduction
Have you ever wondered how crimes and punishments have evolved through out the Ages? In this writing there will be detail of crimes and punishments through history. Through the ages, theft has been the most common crime committed but it is now considered as a petty crime. In the Roman times, if you committed like patricide(killing your father) you would be put in a sack of snakes and chucked in a river to drown.

Roman times

During the spans roughly 500bc-400ad the magnificent Roman Empire had Concorde most of the citizens world. The Roman Empire had many enslaved people, as well as citizens who were free man and women. They were often treated differently if they broke the law. There was no police force in Roman times but they did have a group called vigils. There was about 700 vigils who defeat criminals. The Romans designed there punishments to discourage potential criminals. How you were punished depend on who you were and your position in Roman society. Whipping and fines were the most common punishment in Roman times.

Anglo-saxons

The Anglo Saxons period in Britain was from around 410 to 1066. A lot of the population lived in small villages in the country side and very few lived in towns. There wasn’t a police force like we have today. Keeping law and order was the responsibility of everyone in the village. If someone was seen committing a crime then the witnesses could raise a hue ( cry , shouting for help). Everyone who heared it was expected to help chase and capture the suspects. The leader of the village would use the laws written by the king to decide what punishment you would receive. The church and local lords had the power to decide punishments. The church had its own courts and a different system of punishment. The Anglo Saxon didn’t have prisons. Most people found guilty of crimes were punished with fines

Tudors

The tudor period was from 1485 to 160ce. This was a time of many changes. Explores discovered new lands and maps had rewritten and there was religious changes across England and Wales. There was no police force during tudor times. Of ten in smaller towns and villages, preventing crime was left up to the people. In some villages and towns they employed “ parish constibles” who would be responsible for keeping the peace and catching criminals. Whipping was a common punishment for a wide variety of crimes. Vagrants(homeless people) , thieves who stole goods worth less than a shilling and those who refused to attend church would all be whipped.

Victorian times

The Victorian times was in Britain was between 1837 to 1901.in the Victorian period the population increased and many people began to move from the country side to the towns and cities to work in factories.living conditions were often cramped with one family per room and the whole street would share an outside toilet and a water tap. In 1829, a poltitican called sir Robert peel introduced the first English police force in order to improve public order in London. Over the next ten years , many other areas of the country formed their own police force. Police men were poorly paied and they would patrol a certain area, known as their “beat”.for the first time in history prisons became the main form of punishment in this period. They were awful places.many prisoners were sent to Australia for hard labour the law allowing this was eventually changed in 1857. “Prison hulks” were ships that moored in harbour and housed criminals who were to be transported or taken to court.
Hard labour  was a common punishment.many Victorians believed that having to work very hard would prevent criminals from committing crime in the future.

World war 2

World War Two was fought between 1939 and 1945.it was a time of great hardship for many. Children in the city were evacuated to the countryside.During the war the number of reported crimes in England and Wales rose.the government had introduced new rules such as blackout ,air raid warnings and rationing. There was police forces in Britain during the war. Police duties increased because of the war.their usual tasks include keeping the peace dealing with criminals and making sure that trafic flowed freely in towns and cities.looting was a big problem the number of boomed properties provided a big temptation to looters many were given fines or short prison sentences.black market: many items sold on the black market without a rational card. if caught selling on the black market then the punishment could be a fine and imprisonment. The numbers of murders increased dramatically during the war.air raids killed so many people that it was often impossible for the police to investigate all deaths and criminals took advantage of this . If you were found guilty of murder you could be put to death.

Introduction

Have you ever wandered how crime and punishment changed through the ages? In this text, I will be explaining all about crime and punishment from Roman times to ww2. Crime and punishments have always been a thing however the most common crime has always been theft. For the crimes you committed you would always face punishment. For example ; for consistent theft in Roman times you would be flogged (whipped).

crime and punishment in Roman times

The romans lived from 500bc to 400ad , the empire ruled most of the world. Rome became very overcrowded as they enslaved many people (and countries). The most common of all crimes were murder and theft. The punishments were flogging for theft and execution for murder. They had no police so they used the community to take care of criminals. The name of these people were vigiles they would be police , firemen and they would decide punishments.More serious crimes would lead to more serious punishments like if you kill they would kill you. Many travellers come to Rome to get richer. As a result , Rome had very dark and dangerous streets. The richer people and emperors would use poor people (vigiles) to protect everyone.

Anglo Saxon crime and punishment

During Anglo Saxon times, theft once was a fine more than once is having your hands cut off. Since they didn’t have a police force the community would bring in the criminals they would not be the people that decide the punishment. If someone stole from you you could just kill them. If no one could decide whether you were innocent or guilty you would do trial by ordeal which is when god decides if you are innocent or guilty most punishments were trial by ordeal because they were very religious. They were very cruel with there punishments because if you stole and can’t pay you would be thrown off of a cliff. The most common crime was theft.

Tudor crime and punishment

The Tudors had many ways to execute you such as beheading , hanging and many more. If you were caught drunk in public you were put in the drunkards cloak (a big barrel for beer). If women gossip they have to were the scolds bridle which will hold back your young so you don’t gossip. The most common crime was gossip. The scolds bridle is only for women as they were only punished for gossip. They believed if they punished you enough you would stop committing crimes.

Victorian crime and punishment

In Victorian times they finally got police and jail. The prison was in Australia and the whole time you were there you would be forced to do manual work. If it was a crime like theft you would pay a fine, which was 4 times the amount you stole. This was because theft was still the most common crime committed. And if you committed treason you were hung (treason means you talk bad about the king). The Victorian era lived from 1837 to 1901. The Victorians introduced the police force in 1829 and was first brought to London.

ww2 crime and punishment

Looting was the most common crime because many people had to feed there families. They did have a police force but not many people were in it. If you were caught selling on the black market you would be given a fine if you didn’t pay then you were put in prison. The number of murders increased so much and if you killed you were killed as well. At night there was no light so crime was easier to get away with it. Looting and theft was much more common due to the lights always being out and the police was always deeling  with the war and criminals.

Romans

Roughly around the time 500BC and 400AD, the Roman empires ruled most of the world. During this time, the Roman Empire became very overcrowded ranged with many different people. From rich slavery’s who are ready to sell captured people for a fortune, to crime committers who murder people and steel food and clothes. As a result, Rome became a dark city with places where theft became rife. In Rome theft and murder became the two most common crimes.

People most commonly committed theft to survive. People stole food, clothes, and even shoes. If you where caught red handed in theft you should or pay three times as much as you stole or get pushed off a cliff.

Over a long period of time, Roman punishments became more violent. Some people are forced to wear wooden plaques around there necks or also uncomfortable wooden shoes to make escape very difficult. Most common punishments were whippings and fines.

For more serious crimes the punishments where more painful including being pushed off a cliff into a rapid river or even being berried alive. Another punishment was crucification (being nailed to a cross).

Anglo-Saxons

In the Anglo-Saxon times, they had no police force so the responsibility of catching criminals was on everyone’s back. If you where caught committing a crime you would be sent to the magistrate. Then if they couldn’t decide if you were guiltily or not you would be sent for a trial by ordeal. These include trial by fire and trial by water. Trial by water was when your hands and feet where tied and you were thrown into a river. If you flouted you were innocent however if you sank you were guilty. Trial by fire was when you had a red hot iron bar was burnt into your skin, then they would bandage your hand. After three days if there was a sign of healing you were innocent however if not you were guilty.

Tudors

Similar to the romans theft was the most common crime. Only because people stole food to feed there family’s. As police was still not introduced. The most common punishment was wiping.  You would stand i public and they would wip you with a leather belt in the back. Only men could suffer the consequence of wiping. The tudors believed that if the punishments were rough then less people will commit crimes.

Victorians

The two most common crimes where theft and pickpocketing. People would walk up to you in a crowded place and slowly take something out of your pocket. In the Victorian times the first police was introduced by Sir Robert peel. Additionally, the first prisons were introduced. They also had transportation. Transportation was when you were sent to Australia  to do their punishment there. They were transported in the bottom of the boat where they keep all the luggage. Additionally, there were many diseases, rats, and bugs. They were fed rotten and mouldy food. The transport normally took six to seven months. Some people died before they arrived.

Crime and punishment in different years

 Introduction

Have you thought about  the past ? Well today we will be compering 5 different eras of time and comparing crime and punishment the 5 different eras will be the romans, Anglo Saxons, the tudors, the victorions and world war 2 I will be disscusing  these to see how harsh  these punishments are. I will also discuss what type of crimes you have to do to get these punishment s . Then I will be discussing the torture devices used for these types of punishments .

The crimes and punishments in the Roman times.

During the roman years through about 500 bc to about 400ad .During these years  the romans had one of the biggest empires in the world. Conquered  over 19 countries across the whole world . With such a big empire you need laws and punishments for breaking those laws , well the romans took that to seriously by stealing a apple would lead to death . Also selling bread that is light would lead to being your head chopped off . Fun fact the romans had a punishment for every single crime such as killing your dad would lead you into a venomous snake pit . Back in 500 bc there were no police men meaning that your own neighbour would chop your head off or bringing you to the judge to decide your faith, later on they  would give you a fine 4x as much as the stolen goods.

The crimes and punishments of the Anglo Saxons years.

After the romans the Anglo Saxons came in in around  410 ce with crime like  treason would  lead you to get crucified . They believed that the king was like a god so if you disobey the king you disobey the god  leading to also get crucified. They would cut your limbs off   If you stole a small thing like berries. Even if you were home less that would lead to a punishment like getting whipped on the back leaving deep scares in your back.

Crime and punishment of the Tudor times

The police still wasn’t available so just like the romans the Victorian times your neighbour would tell on you.During the Victorian times between 1837 and 1901.A man named sir Robert peel introduced the police force to London in 1829 ,countries saw this and started to use this  many people didn’t trust this idea but it did reduced crime in the area . This an new idea called a prison was invented and was used a the main form of punishments but instead of sitting in someone’s cell they would be forced to  do hard work like building a houses and making food .

Crime and punishments in world war 2

Between 1939 and  1945 the Second World War 2 happened with bombs dropping around the cities  making looting and crime more common making the police force really busy . This made people rich using the black market to sell food : that was over the permit. This war made  a curfew were the lights go out when this happened had a bunch of people stealing and made stealing quicker and faster because nobody saw them and : made looting quick and easy.

          CRIME AND PUNISHMENT THROUGHOUT TIME

Over time, crime and punishment has been handled very differently. For instance, in the Roman era, crimes could be punishable by death; however now a days (thankfully) the death penalty has been abolished in hope that the guilty can learn to be better people. But why have attitudes to punishment changed over time? What has lead to the civilised punishments we have today? In this text, I will be discussing the Roman, Anglo-Saxon/Viking,Tudor and Victorian reactions towards crimes.
Roughly between 500 BC and 400 AD, was in power of most of the world we live into now. Rome itself became overcrowded with people with many different people from various backgrounds. As a result, Rome became a very dangerous place, it had slum areas and dark places, which people
would lurk around in. Vigilies (special individuals) had the responsibility to capture wrongdoings (criminals)
and Bring them to the magistrate. Punishments were mostly for people who are caught red-handed. The most common punishments were fines and receiving a whipping. On the other hand, There were harsher punishments that were usually saved for things like treason and murder. The harsher punishments included: crucifixion and being pushed off a cliff (basically death).

In the Anglo-Saxon times, major crimes, such as treason (plotting against the king) Punishment, for example, death or branding; however, smaller crimes would lead to a fine. You had been committing several amounts of crime continuously, well that would result in your limbs being cut off (mutilation). If a jury couldn’t decide wether a criminal was guilty or not, they would leave the decision
to God. The name of this would be an ordeal. The criminal had to ensure a painful ordeal:standing still whilst having a red hot bar of iron burned into their skin, being tied up, hands and feet, and thrown into the water. If they survived the ordeals they would be proven innocent
if not then would be thought guilty. If a red hot bar of iron would be burned into your skin your hand would be bandaged and after three days the bandages would be
removed. The wind showed sign of healing you would be proven Innocent, however, if not then you would have to endure even more excruciating, final punishment. Before weirgild was established, it was the law that victims could track down the criminal and murder him/her.
In the Tudor time crime was still the most common crime committed. This was due to the growing population and Poverty. Additionally, begging was also a celebrity in the world of crime. This was because of the rule stating that
the homeless could have their rights taken away from them and that they could be enslaved for 2 years time. Murder was not as common but certainly did occur. This was due to a certain disease that there was no cure to. Thus people would kill each other because they knew they were going to die either way.

Victorians, finally. In the Victorian times, the most common crime was still theft, however pickpocketing had to be the winner in popularity! There was also prostitution,
which was when someone used another persons talent for financial gain. This was also quite popular. In the 1700’s the first police force was developed. It all started in London and over time moved throughout the world. Eventually, the police were in charge of controlling law and order. Even later on in time, prisons became the main force of punishment; similar to today. Another force of punishment was transportation. This was when the police would make the decision to ship you of to Australia to work. In Australia you would have to work manual labour, whilst being surrounded by the scorching sun and deadly archinds.
WW2. A time of hatred, death and war. World War Two was fought between 1939 and 1945. It was a time of hardship and heartbreak. The government announced new rules such as rationing and air raid warnings. This meant much more people were going through poverty and needed to find
ways to survive. Many children were sent off to the countryside. During the war most of the crimes were reported in England and Wales. In many cities shops and houses
were bombed. Thus looting and robbery became much more common. Another reason for crime was, because of the new rules, cities were dark and had no light. That meant it was easier to sneak around and not get caught. It also lead to many more injuries too. Thankfully, police still were active during the war but their responsibilities increased so petty crimes were not dealt with as much. On the other hand their duties stayed the same along with the new ones. Police had to make sure that traffic was flowing freely in towns keeping the peace and dealing with criminals. The Police also had new wartime duties. They had to make sure people obeyed the wartime blackout rules,
help the rescue services during and after bombing raids and search for soldiers who had deserted (run away) from the army. Because off this many police were called ‘blackout bobbies’ because they had to make sure that no light from houses and shops could be seen outside. This was to protect buildings from German bombers flying overhead.
