October 15th, 2017

This week in RE we have been learning about the founder of Buddhism.

This story is about the founder of Buddhism Siddhartha Gautama.

Once in Nepal there lived a rich spoiled prince called Siddhartha Gautama. He  lived in the palace for the whole of his life and he promised himself that one day he will go beyond the palace walls. Years passed he became older and also the ruler of Nepal. He had still remembered the promise he made when he was younger. So decided it was time to discover what normal life was like. When he was there he had many many shocks. He had discovered illness old age death and holiness. He discovered holiness by seeing a man who owned nothing but a bowl. Siddhartha pondered how could a man with nothing be so happy. Suddenly he was petrified he never had seen all that in his life. He thought he should meditate under a bhodi tree he promised himself that he won’t rise until he finds the truth like the holy man he saw. Later he discovered that some things in life can’t be changed. Then he started teaching others of what he had learned. People called him teacher and some called him Buddha. Soon he founded a religion it was Buddhism.
